Training Day 22
by wolfhaines Jan 11th 2010
I spent a few hours on the train returning to University today. Got back at about 1530. So gym was out of question once I had settled in, but I did go food shopping, and carried lots of heavy bags for a mile- so that was something I suppose....

Training Day 19

Snow is preventing me from being able to do any running, so I did an extra Core Workout session to make up for it. Again, not much to report when the weather is this bad!...

Training Day 17
by wolfhaines Jan 6th 2010
Well, yet again we have been engulfed by snow. This time it is even worse than the snow storm just before Christmas. So running was out of the question, as it was knee height in most places, or trodden down into a slippery block. So I decided to g...
Training Day 16
by wolfhaines Jan 5th 2010
Well I am fully recovered from the half marathon distance run two days ago. Decided to revert back to my high intensity 3.32 mile run. I had been dragging the time down by about 4-5minutes each time I had attempted this run. Starting at 40minutes (I...

Training Day 14
by wolfhaines Jan 3rd 2010
By the time that I had got round to thinking about my run I was in a rather long distance mood. So I embarked on a 2.5 hour run. Taking in the entire West side of the biggest town in Britain. I was quite lucky in that I ran from about 3am until 6a...
Training Day 13
by wolfhaines Jan 2nd 2010
Nothing today, and not because of superstitions of it being the 13th day of the programme either! I happen to appreciate the number 13 through my old Rugby position of Outisde Centre. It was a rest day....
Training Day 12
by wolfhaines Jan 1st 2010
Didn't go out last night, even thought it was New Years Eve. I'm too dedicated to training! Went running in the late evening/early hours of the morning. Decided to do an extended run of 8miles. Set myself a target of 1hour, keeping a steady pace a...
Training Day 11

New Years Eve. Early night tonight... well, I'm not going out anyway. I have no plans except to relax and to rehydrate. Tomorrow involves a Core Workout, and a 1 Mile timed run....
Training Day 10
by wolfhaines Dec 30th 2009
Started the day with a core workout, lasted for an hour and was rather enjoyable. Was then driven to have my massage, which also lasted for roughly an hour, and helped relieve the soreness of all the running. Later in the evening, after refuelling,...
Training Day 9
by wolfhaines Dec 29th 2009
My target run time for end of January was 26minutes for 4miles. Now, if you saw me you would tell I am not built for running. I am built for Cycling and Rowing, but not running. Nonetheless, I have managed to break the 26minute barrier 5 weeks ahead ...
Training Day 8
by wolfhaines Dec 28th 2009
Another block of training has begun. This time I only run twice in the week, but at higher intensity. Ret of time is core stability work. Woke up and felt ill, think it was something I ate last night. Threw up and felt fine. Carried on as normal....

Training Day 6
by wolfhaines Dec 26th 2009
Boxing Day. It is also a Saturday, which is a rest day for me. So absolutely nothing to report from the training side of things. Which is just as well, because all that snow has melted, and half the road is clear and the other half is dangerous ic...
Training Day 5
by wolfhaines Dec 25th 2009
Well well well, Happy Winter Festival everyone! I have awoken this morning to the mass merchandising con that is known as 'Christmas', even though it was originally a pagan winter festival, stolen by the church in order to eradicate pagan worship....
Training Day 4
by wolfhaines Dec 24th 2009
Not much to report today. The weather is slowly but gradually getting better. Christmas Eve is not a good time to go road running as everyone seems to be in a panic! Luckily it wasn't a jogging day. I spent the afternoon doing a core workout an...
Training Day 3
by wolfhaines Dec 23rd 2009
Weather: Still snow, but now it has started to rain as well, and the temperature is about -5. So whereas yesterday I was unable to go to the gym due to the ineptitude and laziness of the gym staff, today I am unable to even run because EVERYTHING ...
Training Day 2
by wolfhaines Dec 22nd 2009
No change in weather, which means I am slowly falling behind with my programme progress. Which is a bit demoralising, but we shall continue none-the-less. The snow is still piled high, but luckily it has compacted down into a solid run-able platfo...
Training Day 1
by wolfhaines Dec 21st 2009
Well what a surprise, woke up in the worse snow storm to hit this town in my lifetime. Sods law, especially as today is the first day of my training programme. Been rushed off my feet doing jobs for my family as the snow has brought the town to a ...
Pre-Training Programme Thoughts (4)
by wolfhaines Dec 20th 2009
I arrived home yesterday evening only to suddenly start being sick, gain a temperature and have quite a painful headache. Not what I need just before training starts! I have spent most of this Sunday trying to get better, with some fast curing tec...
Pre-Training Programme Thoughts (3)
by wolfhaines Dec 19th 2009
Today is the day I head home, but light snow and idiotic drivers (over turned car outside my house) have delayed my departure. It is embarrassing how such little snow brings this country to a standstill. Not only that I have discovered that UPS ar...
Pre-Training Programme Thoughts (2)
by wolfhaines Dec 18th 2009
With Friday comes the weekend! Spent the day having a gentle gym session to ease my muscles into the routine which is about to shock my system. Was very careful not to exert myself too much before Monday. It has being snowing endlessly all day,...
Pre-Training Programme Thoughts (1)
by wolfhaines Dec 17th 2009
Here we are, the winter break. For most students the Christmas holiday is a time to enjoy the finer foods, more refined drinks, relax with the family and enjoy the winter chill from the comfort of their own homes. For me, however, it is a punis...
