We are aiming to raise money for children's charities by Rowing the distance from Canterbury to Paris. This is split into 5 days, with 6 hours Rowing each day. With 4 people splitting each ... Training Day 28 Rest Day.
Had another good Sunday roast, and my house mates returned, so am no longer home alone.
Big Rowing week ahead starting tomorrow.... Training Day 26 0700-0800: Swimming
0800-0900: Ergo
0900-1200: Rest
1200-1300: Running
1300-1400: Weights (Mixture)
Quite a busy day. Good times. Feeling good, confident and always eager which is handy.... Training Day 25 0700-0800: Swimming
0800-0900: Weights (Upper Body)
Easy day today.... Training Day 24 Another good day.
0700-0800: Swimming
0800-0900: Weights (Lower Body)
0900-2100: Rest
2100-2230: Run
... Training Day 23 This is where it gets serious. Three training sessions today.
0700-0800: Swimming
0800-0900: Weights (Upper Body)
0900-1700: Rest
1700-1900: Ergo (Rowing Machine)
It may seem weird to have an evening ergo session after having a morning weigh... Training Day 22 I spent a few hours on the train returning to University today. Got back at about 1530. So gym was out of question once I had settled in, but I did go food shopping, and carried lots of heavy bags for a mile- so that was something I suppose.... Training Day 21 Rest Day.
Did have a very nice roast beef dinner though. I return to University tomorrow- meaning I get full and free access to the gym and swimming pool. Good times.... Training Day 20 A gentle run today. 3 miles. Very gentle run- just to keep muscles ticking over.... Training Day 19 Snow is preventing me from being able to do any running, so I did an extra Core Workout session to make up for it.
Again, not much to report when the weather is this bad!... Training Day 18 Rest day today. Being snowed in helped with this.... Training Day 17 Well, yet again we have been engulfed by snow. This time it is even worse than the snow storm just before Christmas. So running was out of the question, as it was knee height in most places, or trodden down into a slippery block.
So I decided to g... Training Day 16 Well I am fully recovered from the half marathon distance run two days ago.
Decided to revert back to my high intensity 3.32 mile run. I had been dragging the time down by about 4-5minutes each time I had attempted this run. Starting at 40minutes (I... Training Day 15 Rest day today. Recovering my energy stores from yesterdays run.... Training Day 14 By the time that I had got round to thinking about my run I was in a rather long distance mood. So I embarked on a 2.5 hour run. Taking in the entire West side of the biggest town in Britain.
I was quite lucky in that I ran from about 3am until 6a... Training Day 13 Nothing today, and not because of superstitions of it being the 13th day of the programme either! I happen to appreciate the number 13 through my old Rugby position of Outisde Centre.
It was a rest day.... Training Day 12 Didn't go out last night, even thought it was New Years Eve. I'm too dedicated to training!
Went running in the late evening/early hours of the morning. Decided to do an extended run of 8miles. Set myself a target of 1hour, keeping a steady pace a... Training Day 11 New Years Eve. Early night tonight... well, I'm not going out anyway. I have no plans except to relax and to rehydrate.
Tomorrow involves a Core Workout, and a 1 Mile timed run.... Training Day 10 Started the day with a core workout, lasted for an hour and was rather enjoyable.
Was then driven to have my massage, which also lasted for roughly an hour, and helped relieve the soreness of all the running.
Later in the evening, after refuelling,... Training Day 9 My target run time for end of January was 26minutes for 4miles. Now, if you saw me you would tell I am not built for running. I am built for Cycling and Rowing, but not running. Nonetheless, I have managed to break the 26minute barrier 5 weeks ahead ... Training Day 8 Another block of training has begun. This time I only run twice in the week, but at higher intensity. Ret of time is core stability work.
Woke up and felt ill, think it was something I ate last night. Threw up and felt fine. Carried on as normal.... Training Day 7 Nothing to report today, is a rest day.
Been chilling out.... Training Day 6 Boxing Day.
It is also a Saturday, which is a rest day for me. So absolutely nothing to report from the training side of things. Which is just as well, because all that snow has melted, and half the road is clear and the other half is dangerous ic... Training Day 5 Well well well, Happy Winter Festival everyone!
I have awoken this morning to the mass merchandising con that is known as 'Christmas', even though it was originally a pagan winter festival, stolen by the church in order to eradicate pagan worship.... Training Day 4 Not much to report today. The weather is slowly but gradually getting better.
Christmas Eve is not a good time to go road running as everyone seems to be in a panic! Luckily it wasn't a jogging day.

So whereas yesterday I was unable to go to the gym due to the ineptitude and laziness of the gym staff, today I am unable to even run because EVERYTHING ... Training Day 2 No change in weather, which means I am slowly falling behind with my programme progress. Which is a bit demoralising, but we shall continue none-the-less.
The snow is still piled high, but luckily it has compacted down into a solid run-able platfo... Training Day 1 Well what a surprise, woke up in the worse snow storm to hit this town in my lifetime. Sods law, especially as today is the first day of my training programme.
